Last weekend created the tantalizing fantasy that we were already in Spring. But, this weekend’s cold and rainy weather has reminded us that we’re in the heart of Winter. So, what to do on a cold and rainy Sunday? Head to the movies! The Lark Theatre is the place to do it, as it has three great shows today, the biggest and most nostalgic theatre in the county, and real food + adult beverages to nosh on during the shows.
Today the first show is one of their periodic Family Film Events. It’s the Wizard of Oz Sing-Along at 2:30. A perfect outing for the family! They had a bid crowd yesterday, so expect the same today. It’s followed by “Made in Dagenham”, a British film set in 1968 by the same director, Nigel Cole, as “Calendar Girls”, that’s gotten great reviews. I’ll be seeing that one (it’s at 4:30), since I’ve already seen the third film showing today, “Inception”. If you haven’t seen it, you should. Really terrific! It starts at 7:00.
They open 30 minutes before the shows, and that’s plenty of time to get your ticket, food and a good seat. There’s on-street parking and a small city parking lot across the street.
Regarding the food, the Lark offers gourmet hot dogs and individual pizzas, plus Lappert’s ice cream, espresso drinks, and beer and wine, in addition to the standard theatre fare of sodas, candy and popcorn.
