I truly would be perfectly happy surviving on cheese, fruit and bread. And, honestly, any one of Cowgirl Creamery’s seven varieties of delicious aged cheeses would fill the bill perfectly. You’ve probably seen many of them in the local groceries throughout Marin County. But, did you know they’re produced right here in their creameries in Point Reyes Station and Petaluma?
Even better, every Friday at 11:30 a.m. at their Point Reyes creamery, they offer Cheese 101: a presentation of how they started and how they make cheese. They demonstrate curd-making, and guide you through a tasting of their cheeses (a delicious education). The class is really popular and is usually booked at least two weeks in advance, so go online (click here) to sign up. And, it’s only $5.00. Note: children must be 7 years old to participate.
Their cheeses are sold right there in the Tomales Bay Foods store, so you can take home your favorites, along with all sorts of cheese accoutrements, such as cheese knives, boards, etc. If you don’t want to take the class, you can still watch cheese being made through the window inside the store.
