99. Panama Hotel Dinner Shows

It looks like the rain showers are going away for the coming week, so celebrate by enjoying the live music and al fresco dining at the Panama Hotel in the Gerstle Park neighborhood (see #27) of San Rafael.

They’ve got dinner shows every Tuesday and Thursday and on alternating Wednesdays.  A good portion of their performers are jazz musicians, plus they have blues, world fusion, rock, and, well, lots of genres (but think mainly jazz). Their acts include plenty of vocalists, too.

You can start the evening off at their “Yappy Hour” from 4:00 – 6:00, where you can bring your pooch with you. Thanks to the change in Marin County’s laws last Fall, your dog can be with you in outdoor dining areas, provided the restaurant allows it (and the Panama does).

Dinner is served starting at 5:30, with the shows starting at 7:00 and winding up about 10:00. Their dinner menu has something for everyone, from salads to salmon, chicken to ribs. And, don’t miss the dessert menu – it’s all made in house – yum.

You really couldn’t find a more comfortable, relaxing atmosphere for dinner and a music show, and the just-off-downtown San Rafael location makes it really easy to get to. There’s good on-street parking plus there’s a free lot a half-block away at Albert Park.
