Seems too simple, doesn’t it? The name is simply “Fish” because that’s what they serve, in an unadorned atmostphere, with an unpretentious image. The whole concept behind this restaurant is that they serve only the freshest, sustainably harvested/fished seafood available. And when it’s not available, they never substitute with farmed fish! Read a great write-up about this philosphy and practice on their website!
Fish source aside, they’ve also focused on creating a wonderfully relaxed, yet energized atmosphere at Fish. That may sound confusing but it’s because the decor and setting are very casual – long picnic tables on the dock, stools along the bar for dining, walk-up ordering at the counter, colorful chalkboard menus, and then the waterside setting with dozens of sailboats gently bobbing on the water. So, even though the setting is jeans-comfy, there are always so many people moving about – ordering, getting seats, serving the food, that it puts out a feeling of activity and vibrancy.
The food is really creative, and everything I’ve tried is delicious, which is dangerous, because I can slip easily into the trap of ordering the same thing time and again. That’s definitely a downside here, because then you miss trying an extensive menu of very interesting sounding dishes. Kids are very welcome and there’s a separate kids menu with typical kid-pleasing staples.
They also offer take-out, which is really nice, and of course everything is packaged up in completely biodegradable/compostable containers. And, finally, they sell fresh seafood to take home and cook, and they’ll tell you how to cook it!
