159. Seaplane Tours Above the Bay

We’ve driven by them countless times along the water’s edge just south of the Richardson Bay Bridge. And we’ve always wondered what it would be like to take a ride in one. I am, of course, talking about the sightseeing seaplanes in Richardson Bay.

The company is named “San Francisco Seaplane Tours” and they fly 2 – 6 seat seaplane tours daily. The loops they fly include San Francisco, Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, Angel Island, Tiburon, Sausalito, Muir Woods and the Pacific Coast. They offer four 25-minute tours daily, plus their 35-minute 5:00 p.m. “Champagne Flight” which includes – you guessed it –  in-flight champagne.

All of the seats are window seats, and the wings are up high so your views are unobstructed out the large windows. Their website has a very cool video showing some of the views in-flight.

It’s really not that expensive for a special occasion ($160 – $210/person), and definitely one of the most memorable plane rides you’ll ever take. I’m sold.
