If you’ve been to Larkspur Landing shopping center recently you’ve noticed that it’s gotten quite a facelift. The new owners have changed the name to Marin Country Mart, and have redone the frontage along Sir Francis Drake, changed the interior courtyard landscaping, added some high quality tenants, and added a lot of events and activities to liven up the feel as well as to appeal to a wider segment of the Marin community.
The Saturday morning Farmers Market is fairly small, but the vendors are local and high quality, and it has an intimate feel to it. Plus, they’ve got a wonderful area with little animals for a toddler scaled petting zoo and they’ve got $1.00 pony rides (always great for photo ops)! Lines are pretty constant here.
They augment the Farmers Market with related events, and tomorrow’s is a really good one – a free film screening of the documentary “Vanishing of the Bees” which describes the severe drop off world-wide of the honey bee population and its causes. It will be followed by an interactive conversation with Jerry Draper, from Draper Farms, San Anselmo, who will discuss her bee-tending experiences.
And, they’ve also got live music from 10:00 – 1:00. Tomorrow it’s The Shots, who play Irish, Country, Bluegrass and the like.
