Tonight is the first of a Summer series of “Movies on the Green” at the Marin Country Mart, Larkspur Landing, with a target audience of young children & their parents. They screen a free movie (tonight is Mary Poppins) and everyone’s invited to bring their beach chairs, blankets, and food and drinks to settle in and watch the film. Of course, there’s always the alternative of buying food there – from the six eateries which include Marin Brewing Company, Starbucks, Sushi Ko, Thai Siam, Togos & Berry Bliss, as well as the two booths, Pig in a Pickle and Nana Mae’s Organics Juices.
It seems like the idea has traction, because they got a good turnout of kids and adults for their first event tonight. Next week’s movie is Cars, which I imagine will be at least as big a draw.
My one caveat is about the traffic you’ll run into at 6:00 getting to Larkspur Landing Circle. There’s usually a back-up from 101 north onto Sir Francis Drake, so be sure to plan an extra 10 minutes or so. Also, parking at the Marin Country Mart is tight, so plan a few extra minutes to park and make your way into the center where they hold the event.
