174. McNears Beach Park

One of the benefits of living on a peninsula is that there are water and beaches to both the east and west. One of the nicest east-facing beaches lies in San Rafael, out Point San Pedro Road. It’s 55-acre McNears Beach Park, and it has a lot to offer.

This park has something for everyone including a beach, swimming pool, tennis courts, fishing pier, group picnic areas, lawns, big shade trees, clubhouse and snack bar.

There’s a good size parking lot right there, too, but it has a day use fee for vehicles which varies by day of the week and time of the year. It is, as always, free to ride your bike in!

Where: 201 Cantera Road, San Rafael, CA  94901 (map)

Park Entrance Fee: $2.00/person, year-round

Pool Entrance Fee: $5.00/person, open Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.
