201. Dolliver Park aka “Dark Park”

The hot weather we’re having right now makes Doliver Park the ideal spot for taking kids to play. This park is in a redwood grove and is shady all year ’round, hence the local nickname, “Dark Park”. As you can imagine, during some seasons this shade is not welcome, but it certainly is sought after now!

In addition to the play structures and swings, there’s a shallow creek running along one side that kids love to spash in, throw rocks into, and wade across. It’s fun to hear them talking about playing in the “river”!

The park is really easy to find because it’s on the corner of Magnolia, the main street through downtown Larkspur, and Madrone, across from the Lark Creek Inn. There’s free street parking, but there are a number of redwoods literally in the roadway block parking so you may have to park a block or two away.

There are toilets and a drinking fountain, which also are a big plus.

Where: Corner of Magnolia Avenue and Madrone Avenue, Larkspur, CA 94939 (map)
