212. Robin Sweeny Park

A lot of people think of Sausalito as a very adult oriented town, and there are certainly many places and activities that have an adult bent. However, there are some lovely parks with great playgrounds and playfields, too, such as Robin Sweeny Park.

Stretching along Caledonia Street between Litho and Bee, it sits right next to City Hall. It’s beautifully kept up, and has a large grassy field between the basketball court and sandy-bottomed play yard. The basketball court has a great playing surface and is mainly fenced in to keep balls from going into the streets. The play yard is large, three-leveled and filled with numerous play structures, slides, swings and park benches for parents and babysitters.

There’s also a large patio area with picnic tables between the park and City Hall, but away from the street, and it’s the perfect spot for kids birthday parties. You can set up with your cake, balloons and presents and be just steps away from the play yard yet away from any street traffic or noise.

Street parking is free, and is fairly easy to find.
