Even if you don’t skate yourself, you ought to go watch the skaters at the Novato Skate Park. It’s a beautiful facility on the edge of the Hamilton Field development, and attracts skaters from all over the county. And these are not just young skaters, either, with ages from pre-teen to over ’50 (and the 50+ year old I saw skating recently was pretty darn agile).
The park is fenced and has picnic tables, drinking fountain, a pay phone and a decent sized parking lot. It’s really clean and grafitti-free. It’s posted as a “zero-tolerance zone” which means no drugs, alcohol or grafitti at all allowed, or the park will be closed for two days. It’s also posted that helmets must be worn at all times, but only a small fraction of skaters actually wear them.
