A new restaurant opened in Larkspur last month and is getting great reviews. Lots of people had been to its sister restaurants in Sausalito and Mill Valley and were already fans. This one is mostly the same, but a little different, from the others – but they’re all good.
The concept is a blending of Indian and Mexican dishes, ingredients and spices. For example, their burritos are encased in an Indian wheat punjabi wrap, and the ingredients include saffron rice, curried garbanzo beans, potatoes, pickled carrots, yogurt, fruit chutney, green herb salsa and a vegetable, seafood or and meat filling, many of which are curried. They also serve these ingredients as enchiladas, or over saffron rice or salad.
The food is excellent, really fresh and beautifully presented. Their jerk chicken filling is really popular (and delicious) as is their blackened vegetables. And, they can make any dish vegan, vegetarian or gluten free at no extra cost.
This Avatar also offers a full American style breakfast, including egg dishes and pancakes. They also offer a punjabi breakfast.
