333. Pearl’s Phat Burgers

Pearl’s Phat Burgers in downtown Mill Valley is another example of Marin County being a mecca of great non-franchise burger joints.  It specializes in gourmet burgers – buffalo and  Kobe beef patties, and 11 exotic topping combinations. These “special” burgers have die-hard fans, and Pearl’s advertises which culinary celebrities like which burger on it’s front windows; it has some pretty high profile fans. It has, of course, the requisite delicious fries and onion rings (great burger joints always have onion rings!)

They also offer a long list of milkshake flavors, or you can mix any two flavors on the milkshake menu and create your own new flavor. Right now they’re offering Pumpkin Spice, in keeping with the season.

Pearls’s takes up a small storefront and has just four tables and four stools at the counter, so it’s cozy. Service is pretty quick (once you get to the front of the line) – about 5-10 minutes for a to-go order.
