Woohoo! Today Larkspur got a cookie shop! And a home-grown one, at that, with the two owners hailing from Ross and Corte Madera. Modern Cookie Company did a soft launch today with about half of its planned goodies on offer at its newly remodeled digs at 25 Ward Street, downtown. It has a cheerful, easy on the eye pastel interior, with a whole section for kids to draw and crayon, and a wall of mounted metal cookie baking sheets for artwork to be put up with magnets. Across from that there is a giant white board for more kid creativity opportunities.
But, the cookies, you ask. Are they good? Yes, quite delicious. I limited myself to just three (!) today, and my favorite was the peanut butter. The chocolate brownie cookie with powdered sugar was a close second. One of the owners, Erin Hull, told me that they will be bringing out their biscuits next, with both sweet and savory varieties. They plan on producing the full menu by January 1st.
In addition to the many tables inside for eating, hanging out with friends and doing some laptop work while downing a cookie and cappucino, there’s a lovely patio out back that will be great in warmer weather. The crowd this morning, and there were quite a few, were definitely staying indoors. Looks like they’re off to a strong start.
