In Sausalito’s “local shopping district”, i.e., in the less touristy shopping area that locals frequent, sits Pinestreet Papery, brimming over with an amazing variety of cards, stickers, ribbons, papers, gifts and all sorts of related paper goods items. Pinestreet Papery also has a uniquely large assortment of Mrs. Grossman’s stickers, and a unique history behind it.
Remember, if you can, back in the late ’70’s when the first red heart stickers and then all sorts of stickers became a craze across the country? Well, that heart sticker was designed by Mrs. Grossman’s for the owner of Pinestreet Papery, Kitty McDermott-Okamura. Since then, many hundreds of other designs have been created and sold by Mrs. Grossman’s and Pinestreet Papery carries a huge number of them.
Right now Pinestreet Papery is decorated for the holidays with a riot of colors, patterns, lights, ornaments and a gingerbread house arrayed and displayed beautifully throughout the store. Even if you’ve already bought your holiday cards, it’s worth a visit. And, if you haven’t, or still need wrapping paper or a gift, this is the place to go.
