Great news for those who missed last weekend’s lighted boat parade in Sausalito – San Rafael has one this weekend! Billed as one of the largest lighted boat parades in the Bay Area, the San Rafael Lighted Boat Parade is this Saturday night on the San Rafael Canal from the San Rafael Yacht Club to Pickleweed Park. The best viewing locations are at the San Rafael Yacht Club, behind Montecito Plaza on 3rd Street, at Beach Park on East Francisco next to the Seafood Peddler, and along the Bay Trail at Pickleweed Park.
Official judging will take place at the judges review stand at the San Rafael Yacht club, with prizes awarded for the best decorated power boat, best decorated sailboat and best overall decorated boat. In addition, the Mayor’s Cup is awarded to the yacht club with the most entries.
The parade starts at 6:00 and lasts until about 7:30. Arrive at the viewing areas at least 30 minutes ahead of time to get the best spots.
