347. Sweetlife Bakery & Cafe

There is simply no such thing as too many bakeries, in my humble opinion. So, Sweetlife Bakery & Cafe’s opening in San Anselmo is welcome news and, after my visit today, has been added to my bakery destinations.

The bakery/cafe is big and light and shiny, with a feeling of volume and efficiency. There is a wide variety of breads, pastries and cakes, and a pizza oven and counter for wine & beer service on one side. The staff is very friendly, and patiently described the different pastries, talked about the start-up process and the soon-to-come dinner service, and then tucked a free cookie into my bag with my other purchases (scrumptious!).

They also offer packaged house-made granola and croutons to go, and have a list of baked specialties to pre-order for the upcoming holidays so that you can rest assured you will have what you need for your special event. The items can be ordered with only one day’s notice, which is really nice, and include, among others:

  • Gingerbread Cake with Maple Glaze
  • Pecan Tart
  • Apple Cranberry Tart
  • Bûche de Noël
  • Breads & Dinner Rolls
