It’s that time of year again – head to the county fairgrounds for the fair! This Saturday is opening day of the 2012 Marin County Fair, complete with fireworks, which they’ll have every night.
The petting zoo is always fun (and packed) and there is also a “pocket pets & guinea pig show” which is a huge hit with the younger set. In fact, there’s even a Pocket Pets competition (4-H is branching out!).
Because the entrance tickets include all of the entertainment, rides and music inside, there are long lines for the rides. If you’re coming during the day time, be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat. Then again, you’ll probably lose the hat on some of the rides!
They’ve got really great headliner bands playing every night, from Dickey Betts & Great Souther, Mickey Thomas & Starship, Los Lobos, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Steel Pulse, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and The Temptations on July 4. The music alone is worth the cost of the ticket.
