Forecast for the weekend in Marin: Sunny, mid-80’s! Time to head outdoors. And what better destination than Angel Island via the Tiburon Ferry! As the weather warms up, this activity becomes more and more popular, so plan to get to the ticket booth and get in line at least 15 minutes before departure time. And in May through September, the ferry departs Tiburon Monday through Fridays at 10:00, 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00. Saturday and Sunday the ferry leaves Tiburon 10:00 to 5:00 hourly. Sunset Cruises are back through October 12! Friday and Saturday the ferry leaves Tiburon at 6:30 and returns at 8:00. Reserve your seat today!
The ferry accommodates bikes, strollers and wheelchairs, so everyone has an opportunity to get over to Angel Island State Park. The ride lasts about 10 minutes, and when the weather is nice it’s fun to be outside on the deck for unobscured views of the sailboats on the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, approach to Angel Island, San Francisco, Belvedere, etc. Once you arrive at the Angel Island dock, there are lots of activities to choose from, depending on the length of time you have for your stay and the level of physical activity you want to undertake. The Angel Island State Park’s brochure provides a great overview of the park’s history, activities and services and includes a good map.
The operating hours/seasons of the facilities on the island are subject to change and visitors should check the website AngelIsland.com to find out about the cafe, Segway rentals and tram tours. Because of State budget cuts, the Park’s website should also be consulted for facility operating hours.
