4th of July in Marin County
With 4th of July this week and no plans yet I looked into all the festivities taking place in Marin County.
Sausalito
Sausalito is having their annual 4th of July Fireworks, Parade and Picnic. It is a full day of activities starting with the parade at 10:00 on 2nd and Main street, goes down Bridgeway, and then Caledonia all the way to Dunphy Park. Followed by a picnic from noon until 5:00 at Dunphy Park. There will be food to buy from local vendors. From 6:00 to 9:30 is a time to hang out and find a spot for the firework show at 9:20. Check out the website for tips, tricks and best places to watch the fireworks. This is a free event!
Tiburon
For the first time ever you can watch fireworks from Angel Island! A ferry leaves Tiburon at 5:00pm and will return right after the fireworks. Ticket prices include a ferry ride to and from Tiburon and shuttle service. A shuttle bus picks you up from Angel Island Cafe and Angel Island Cantina at 7:30 and takes you to Battery Leadyard. There will be live music, food, drinks and fun from 6:00 to 7:30 at the Cafe and the Cantina. Buy tickets online before they are gone!
San Rafael
Watch a firework show in San Rafael at the Marin County Fair! Ticket prices for the fair are $14 for children ages 4-12 and seniors 65+, $16 for adults ages 13-64. Fireworks start at 9:30.
There will be a parade followed by a picnic at the Ross Commons, the parade starts at 11:00. There will be Woodlands Food Tent selling food at the picnic. For more information check out the website.
Novato
Start your morning with the 60th Annual Presbyterian Church Buckaroo Breakfast. Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:00 in the Redwood Credit Union parking lot 1010 Grant Ave. Suggested donation rate is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Run off your breakfast at the 6th Annual 4th of July Run! You can either participate in the Mayor’s 1 Mile or the Firecracker 4 Mile. The 1 mile run goes though Downtown Novato and the 4 mile continues in the hills along the backside of the city, both end on Grant Street. Register online or the morning of starting at 6:30. The Firecracker run starts at 8:00 and the Mayor’s 1 Mile starts at 8:05.
After the run finishes make sure to stay for the 4th of July Parade starting at 10:00. Parading along Grant Ave are classic cars, color guards, festive floats, music bands, fancy cowgirls on golden palominos, and decorated basset hounds. You don’t want to miss this parade, deemed the largest in the San Francisco Bay area! Check out the days schedule of events here.
Larkspur & Corte Madera
American Legion Post 313 is holding their 61st annual Independence Day Pancake Breakfast in the American Legion Hall Post 313. Opening flag ceremony begins at 7:45, breakfast will be served from 8:00 to 11:00. Make sure to buy raffle tickets for a quilt auction benefiting Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the American Legion. Raffle tickets are $5 each, drawing starts at 5:00 and you do not need to be present to win. Breakfast is $8.00 an Adults, $5.00 a kids, and $3.00 for a Gin Fizz. After breakfast don’t miss the 4th of July Parade hosted by Corte Madera Town Center and Union Bank. Parade starts at 10:30 at Redwood High School. An independence day celebration continues after the parade in Corte Madera Town Park, with food, ice cream, live music, carnival games, and arts and crafts vendor and much more!
This year no matter what part of Marin County you live in there are parades to participate in. Also check out the firework shows put on by the various cities. Have a fun and safe 4th of July!
