Point Reyes Vineyards &Winery

Just a beautiful 25 minute drive from central Marin out Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and then a few miles north of Point Reyes Station on Highway 1 brings you to the Point Reyes Vineyards & Winery. Noah and I have gone here many times, to sample their wines and pick up a few bottles to take home. It’s wonderful having such a high quality winery right in Marin, and it feels really good to support a local business.

The owners often pour in the tasting room and they and the other staff members are all very knowledgeable and friendly. I like that you pay just $5.00 for a tasting, which includes a generous sample of each of the wines they’re pouring. Then, you get that $5.00 credited towards your wine purchase. Recently, we picked up a wonderful bottle of their Late Harvest Viognier, a delicious dessert wine, a bottle of Zinfandel and a Cabernet. Most of their wines are made from Marin County grapes, but others (like the Zinfandel) use out-of-county California grapes. Believe it or not, their Marin grapes come from their vineyard in Terra Linda!

It’s a great place to take out-of-town guests, especially when you don’t want the trek of going to Napa or Sonoma Counties. And, if you start your afternoon drive here, they will give you lots of great suggestions for dining, shopping and all sorts of outdoors activities in the area.
