I love exploring Marin and finding unique, creative and super high-quality businesses, such as the one that Noah and I found this morning in San Rafael’s West End neighborhood. It’s Ponsford’s Place Bakery & Innovation Center, and with a name like that, there’s likely to be a great story behind it, and there is.
Craig Ponsford is a highly skilled, internationally award-winning baker who has chaired the Bread Bakers Guild of America for the past nine years, stepping down this year only to open his next venture: Ponsford’s Place Bakery & Innovation Center. In addition to his love of bread baking, Craig has a passion for experimenting and innovating with all sorts of locally milled flours (lupine and grape seed, to name a few) and creating unique and unusual but delicious and healthy breads, pastries, cookies & pizzas, using all local ingredients. The results are fabulous, we can attest!
Craig also teaches baking classes and hosts special events for enjoyment on the sidewalk at the bakery.
