Mountain Home Inn

Perched on the side of Mt. Tam, the Mountain Home Inn is the perfect spot either as a destination, or on your way back from Stinson or a hike on Mt. Tam. The inn’s bar and restaurant are intimate and cozy, but also open out onto a spacious deck with a sweeping view of the Marin peninsula below and San Francisco Bay beyond.

There’s nothing as enjoyable as a strenuous outing in nature followed by relaxing with a glass of good wine or beer and a bit of sustenance, and a glorious view over the natural world you’ve just, well, not triumphed over, but perhaps a bit of that combined with convened with. The Mountain Home Inn is an ideal place for that in Marin, because of its unique location and menu that is so well suited to the many outdoor enthusiasts who stop in.

Now, if you are looking for a intimate destination meal, this can be the place, too. It’s got an outstanding three-course, prix fixe menu in the dining room five nights a week, complete with wine pairings on offer for each course. Definitely should be on your list of restaurants for that special occasion.

Since this is also an inn, and is closed sometimes for special occasions (weddings in particular), be sure to check their website for closures.
