115. Camp Taylor

Among the redwoods and along Papermill Creek lies Camp Taylor, the day use and overynight campground in Samuel P. Taylor State Park, Lagunitas. There are many camp sites, and most have just 6 – 10 individual sites at each, and they are spread out all along and above the creek, in a very densely forested redwood grove.

The camping facilities are great, with plenty of restrooms, and hot pay showers. There is a long, 3-mile paved section of the Cross Marin Trail that’s great for biking, especially for young kids. Dogs are welcome, too, within the campground and along the one 3-mile paved trail, but must be on leash at all times.

If you’re looking for long, sunny hikes or bike rides, you can hike up onto Mt. Barnabe and all along the Ridge Trail. Otherwise, there are plenty of trails through the redwoods.

It’s recommended to make reservations ahead of time for overnight camp spots. Right now there are plenty of sites available throughout the entire summer.
