220. Homestead Valley Community Center
Even though we’re late in the Summer, outdoor pools will still be a draw through the warm days of Fall. A beautiful, casual pool to enjoy for recreation or exercise is the Homestead Valley Community Center pool in Homestead Valley, an unincorporated area adjacent to Mill Valley and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. (Most folks think of it as part of Mill Valley). From mid-April through mid-October it offers six days/week lap swim, open swim, classes and lessons. And, memberships are discounted for the rest of the season!
Memberships and the pool are open to the public, although fees are a bit higher for non-Homestead Valley residents. In addition to the pool, with changing rooms and restrooms, it has picnic tables, a ping-pong table, a large grassy meadow and lots of shade trees. They’ve got a community room for group functions which is available to rent, as is the pool. There’s a small parking lot for about 12 cars with overflow parking available at the adjacent Marin Horizon School.
