The Legion of Honor in San Francisco has the exhibition “Pissarro’s People” running through January 22, 2012. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. And, to get the most from it, come Monday night to the Mill Valley Public Library for a lecture on the artist and the exhibit presented by Rita Dunley of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Dunley will discuss Pissarro’s genre scenes set in the fields and marketplaces of rural France of the latter part of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The lecture is free and doors open at 6:45 for the 7:00 event. I recommend getting there at 6:45 because it is likely to fill up. Free on-street parking can be a bit difficult to find, which is another reason to get there early.
Where: 375 Throckmorton Avenue, Mill Valley CA 94941 (map)
When: Monday, November 28, 2011 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:45 pm)
